Women's World Cup 2011

It was to be expected and yet, I'm really, really happy it worked out and the Women's World Cup 2011 will be in Germany.

A word about class reunions

I don't like them. Especially if it's more than 10 years since you've left school. If people like things like that, it's ok but for me you have to meet up with people you haven't seen in a long time and for most of them you had a good reason to not see them again. For me there are just too few of them I'd like to meet again and most likely they won't be there.

So I wasn't exactly over-enthusiastic when I got an email about an upcoming classreunion that was forwarded from somebody I'm still in touch with. I forwarded it to a good friend of my from school. She wanted to go there and I was careless enough to promise to join her. Well, a promise is a promise and so I mentally prepared myself for a night I most likey wouldn't enjoy.

This morning, however, my friend called me to tell me she's ill and couldn't come. I'm sorry she's got a cold but....*phew*

Get well soon, Miri.

We are the champions, my friend...

Whoohoo! World Champions. Again. And what a fight. It was exciting and dramatic and we were a bit lucky.

But anyway. 2-0. World Champions 2007. And not just that. We (the team) broke several records:

1. Successful defending of the title.

2. Clean sheet throughout the whole tournament.

3. Highest win in a World Cup game (11 Germany - 0 Argentina).

All those records apply for both the men's and the women's Worl Cup tournaments.

Congratulations, girls. Have a wild party tonight. *g*

Simpsonizing away...

[info]kisuuna discovered this funny site a while ago. We happened to talk about it yesterday so I tried it again. For the lack for pictures of myself I once again used my favourite 'object'. he he

Can plants look 'vulgar'?

I've got me new plant for my living room weeks ago. It's an agave. When I showed it my sister, she looked down at me and said "It looks a tad vulgar somehow, doesn't it? But you've always had a strange liking for things like that."

I happened to mention this to [info]kisuuna and she said, she's once seen a vulgar loooking plant and provided me with pictures.

Because they deserve it

It's a day late and yet:

YAY to our ladies!!! 3-0 in the quarter finals. I watched the game and it was amazing how they always scored in the middle of a Korean attacking phase!!

Congratulation, sisters!!!

Our lady goalie, Nadine Angerer, was amazing. At some point I was reminded on Jens when she was attacked while claiming a ball. I'm glad to see that she follows the nice mad!goalie tradion. *g*

WTF

My horoscope for next week...

Scorpio (October 23-November 21)

The experiment I'm proposing is something you should try only if you're feeling adventurous. Don't do it if you're in a timid or self-pitying mood. Here it is. Empty yourself out completely, and do it gladly. With impish daring, lower your expectations all the way down to zero. Surrender every remnant of hope you might be tempted to cling to. With a jaunty nonchalance, pretend you have nothing to lose. And then open an enormous welcome in your heart for the messy, unpredictable sweetness of life exactly as it is. Say yes to the beauty of ambiguity and paradox. Free yourself to accept every person and every situation on its own terms. If you try what I've suggested, I bet you will be united with a potent blessing you didn't even know you needed.

Er...yes.

I've got a new banner...that is to say I've finally got a banner. *points to banner* Isn't it beautiful? Note the artwork of jumping!Jens next to the pic.

My dear friend Annie ([info]sparklingrocks) made it for me. She's on sick leave at the moment and obviously terrbily bored. *g*

Thank you, sweets and get well soon. I miss you at work.

Congratulations

Two days ago the German team kicked the English team out of the U-17 WC in Korea. They are know facing Nigeria in the semi-final on thursday.

There's no denying, the English can't win with us. Our babies just proved it again. *snicker*

Mustn't be too gleeful, though in order to maintain a good karma for the upcoming games.

For everybody who's interested here's the official match report:
